Primary Production Committee has called for submissions on the RM (Extended Duration of Coastal Permits for Marine Farm) Amendment Bill

Below is a transcript of a communication we received this morning from the Principal Clerk of Committee Primary Production Committee, Office of the Clerk of the House of Representatives Te Tari o te Manahautū o te Whare Māngai. Accordingly, RMLA will be making a submission on the Amendment Bill by stated Friday 16 deadline.

We will shortly be in touch with those Members that provided feedback earlier this year which helped inform our preliminary feedback. You can view that submission in the link below.

“The Primary Production Committee has called for submissions on the Resource Management (Extended Duration of Coastal Permits for Marine Farms) Amendment Bill. The closing date for submissions is 11.59pm on Sunday, 16 June 2024. Please note the relatively tight timeframe for lodging submissions reflects the reporting deadline of 18 July 2024, set for the committee by the House of Representatives.

At its meeting on Friday, 7 June 2024, the committee agreed to contact prospective submitters on the bill about the call for submissions. The purpose of doing so is to ensure that interested parties are aware of the committee’s public call for submissions. You are receiving this email because you (or, in most cases, the organisation you work for or with) were identified as a prospective submitter.

The public call for submissions can be found on the Parliament website here. Please note that submissions must be made via that link. Submissions via email are not accepted.

Here are some links that may be useful:

Please note that due to the relatively short period of time the bill has been referred to the select committee, the committee’s ability to practicably accommodate requests for extensions to the deadline for written submissions may be limited. Requests for extensions need to be considered and decided by the committee, and there are no committee meetings planned after Tuesday this week. If you nonetheless wish to lodge a request for an extension, please sent a PDF letter addressed to the committee explaining the reasons for your request. This letter will be provided to the committee for its consideration and decision at the next available opportunity.”
