Granny flat construction discussion document released

The Government has announced that it is looking at ways to make building granny flats easier.

MBIE and MfE are seeking feedback on options to enable granny flats up to 60 square metres in size to be built without needing a building or resource consent, so long as they meet certain criteria.

Following this consultation, work will be completed with the aim of giving effect to these changes by mid-2025.
