Granny flats popular with all ages

More than 1,300 people have submitted on the recent proposal to make it easier to build granny flats.

This is part of the National-NZ First Coalition Agreement to amend the Building Act and the resource consent system to make it easier to build granny flats or other small structures up to 60m2.

Consultation stats (10 July 2024):

  • 446 email submissions

  • 883 online submissions have been completed

  • 1,905 online submissions have been started

  • 24,393 total web page views on the granny flats consultation page

Consultation closes at 5pm on Monday 12 August 2024.
