Barry O’Neil appointed EPA Board chair

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has announced that Barry O’Neil will become chair of its Board.

Mr O’Neil joined the Board in September 2024. He is the former chief executive of Kiwifruit Vine Health.He has held leadership roles in the public service and established and led MAF’s Biosecurity New Zealand. He chairs Tomatoes NZ and the Diversity of Kiwifruit breeding programme and is the former chair of Horticulture New Zealand.

Board member Mary-Anne Macleod was reappointed to the Board for another term.

The Minister for the Environment appoints Board members, who set the EPA’s strategic direction and monitor our performance.
