Feedback sought on renewable energy discussion document

A range of policy options have been put forward to accelerate the uptake of renewable energy and reduce Aotearoa New Zealand’s greenhouse gas emissions in a discussion document released for consultation.

The discussion document explores possible options to address barriers to reducing energy-related emissions and capture opportunities to improve energy efficiency across the economy and it builds on and responds to, the Productivity Commission’s Low-Emissions Economy report, and the Interim Climate Change Committee’s Accelerated Electrification report.

Energy and Resources Minister Megan Woods says the Government has ambitious renewable electricity and climate change goals and the Accelerating renewable energy and energy efficiency discussion paper continues the conversation on how it can accelerate the transition to a low emissions energy future.
