Northland land secured for future treaty settlement

Land that’s been the focus of Ngāpuhi concerns about the health and well-being of Porotī Springs near Whangarei, has been purchased  by the Government.The Crown paid $7.5m for nearly four hectares of land near the springs, which will be landbanked for a future Treaty settlement.The purchase includes a resource consent to extract water from the Whatitiri aquifer which feeds the Porotī Springs.Read the full release
