Legal profession's 'A List' pays tribute to Assoc. Prof. Kenneth Palmer - transcript available for download
It was a packed courtroom with standing room only, in which Associate Professor Kenneth Palmer received tributes for his outstanding contribution to environmental law, planning and resource management.
A veritable ‘A List’ of New Zealand’s legal profession gathered on December 10 2015, before a court comprising Principal Environment Judge LJ Newhook; Hon Justice AP Randerson; Hon Justice ED Wylie; Chief Employment Court Judge GL Colgan; 
Environment Judge JA Smith; Environment Judge DA Kirkpatrick; and Environment Commissioner ACE Leijnen.
The occasion marked the retirement of Associate Professor Kenneth Palmer, formally acknowledging his forty-six years of exceptional contribution to the legal profession as barrister, teacher, editor and author.
Hon Peter Salmon QC, Ms Bronwyn Carruthers, Andrew Brown QC, Dr Royden Somerville QC and 
Professor Barry Barton of Waikato University, delivered poignant addresses that sought to convey the sheer depth and breadth of Associate Professor Palmer’s contribution as New Zealand’s leading authority on resource management law.
Letters poured in from notable figures who were either overseas at the time or simply unable to attend. Among them were moving messages and anecdotes from high profile figures such as Justice Christian Whata, retired Judge David Sheppard, Environment Judge Melanie Harland, Sir Malcolm Grant, Justice Mark Cooper, among others.
