Invitation to comment on discussion paper - Regulations covering Wāhi tapū wardens under the MACA Act

TÄ“nā koe

You are invited to comment on the attached discussion document. It covers proposed policy for regulations under the Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Act 2011 relating to the appointment of wardens associated with wāhi tapÅ« areas.

Wardens will promote compliance with prohibitions and restrictions on public access within wāhi tapÅ« sites. Wāhi tapÅ« can be recognised only within customary marine title areas.

The distribution list for this paper covers all iwi offices listed on Te Kāhu Māngai as well as contact people for settlements currently under negotiation. We would be grateful if you would post on your websites and forward to those on your emailing lists as appropriate.

Regional Councils and a number of stakeholders and coastal user / access groups will also receive this email.

I would be happy to answer any questions.  I can be contacted by phone until June 11 and after July 6th. In the intervening period I can respond to email queries only.

Ngā mihi
