Policy Manager, Aquaculture NZ, Nelson
Position: Policy Manager, Nelson Based (preferred) Flexible Part Time – 24 Hours per week
Organisation:
Aquaculture New Zealand is the national representative body of the country’s Greenshell Mussel, King Salmon, and Pacific Oyster farmers. The New Zealand aquaculture industry is one of the most efficient and sustainable forms of protein production on the planet. Our marine farmers produce the world’s best seafood, and our premium products are in demand in over 80 countries. Our industry is still in its infancy but already employs over 3000 Kiwis and is the lifeblood of regional towns.
With tremendous potential to grow Aquaculture as New Zealand’s low-emissions primary industry of the future, we are looking for a policy and planning professional to help unlock the potential for this industry, our communities, and New Zealand by joining our small team of specialised staff who are dedicated to this cause.
The Opportunity:
An outstanding opportunity now exists for an experienced professional to steer the industry’s planning and policy efforts with strategic advice and expertise.
As Policy Manager, you will implement and manage all AQNZ policy and planning submissions and engage with Government, councils, Iwi, environmental groups, and communities to promote integrated plans and policies.
You will demonstrate flexibility and agility with policies and plans that can adapt to climate change and enable a new generation of opportunities, smart farming and transformational growth that is good for all stakeholders, including Māori and communities.
This is a terrific opportunity for an experienced policy and planning exponent with outstanding communication capabilities. Previous experience in aquaculture, national or regional planning and policy matters is desirable, as is similar experience in other sectors. A tertiary qualification or a minimum three years of policy and planning experience is required.
