Some useful guidance from MFE regarding various council processes during the Alert Level 4 restrictions is available below. This went live this morning (03.04.20) and will be updated regularly. A pragmatic approach is being encouraged.
Local government plays a critical role in responding to the pandemic. We acknowledge COVID-19 affects the level of service that is possible. Some RMA functions will not be a priority as local authorities and their staff focus on delivery of lifeline services and need to prioritise threats to life and serious harm to the environment over business as usual. The Ministry for the Environment is committed to working with local government and our partner agencies to support councils.
